This week, a 2014 video resurfaced of The X Factor host Mel B being sexually assaulted by her co-worker Louis Walsh on live television.
While seated together on a couch promoting their show on The X-tra Factor, Walsh is seen rubbing, tapping and eventually grabbing her backside. Again, this is on LIVE TV people...
Clearly uncomfortable, Mel B calls him out in a lighthearted, yet annoyed manner— loudly asking,"Why are you grabbing my butt?" Walsh laughs, turning the moment into a joke that he was “just looking after her,” as he continues to sit close to Mel B even though she visibly tries to scoot away.

So after 4 years, why is this video just now going viral? With the #MeToo movement, this video is a prime example that the movement is not just a recent feminist agenda, but rather lifelong traumas women have endured in various situations.
There has been disagreements over Mel B’s reaction to Walsh’s movements. Some stated she was not aggressive enough about her discomfort— while other comments lash out at Mel B for embarrassing Walsh on live TV.
What should be focused on however, is that Walsh continued to work with Mel B on The X-Factor stage even after this took place. Equally important is regardless of Walsh’s sexual orientation, sexual assault of any form, on any gender, age, race or sexual preference is not acceptable.
