While Americans Wait For $600, Billionaires Cash In $1 Trillion

Four days into 2021, and we’re honestly still recovering from whatever 2020 was. Even Slack pressed snooze on the first Monday of the year. In just 96 hours, we’ve gotten proof of a years long Russian hack, recordings of Trump trying to rig the election and Harry Styles being taken off the market.
*slowly plays Golden in the corner crying*
It’s almost hard to select the most damning thing occurring in American society at the moment. Almost. We are still in a pandemic after all, and to Mitch McConnell’s surprise, Americans can’t seem to stretch their one time payment of $1,200.
Over the course of 10 months, Americans have received $1,200 to cover the costs of food, rent, utilities, transportation, medication, clothing, education and unfortunately so much more.
That’s right. $1,200 for 10 months.
That’s $120/month
$4/day*

But don’t panic guys! While 11 million unemployed Americans continue to face uncertainty to make ends meet, the stock market is THRIVING!! You know who else is perfectly okay? Around 600 American billionaires who increased their net worth by almost $1 trillion during the pandemic. Yes THIS pandemic.
Our favorite cis straight VERY problematic white men — Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos made the top 3 earners of the pandemic. According to USA Today, Zuckerberg’s net worth increased by $46.5 billion (he's now worth over $100 billion), Musk added $68.2 billion (now totaling $92.8 billion) and Bezos is worth around $203.1 billion, after $90.1 billion went to his personal checks and not the checks of his delivery workers.

While these billionaires and others not listed are rolling in dough, Americans are being denied their own money (we’re the ones paying taxes guys, not Jess Bezos who paid 1.2% last year) by Mitch McConnell who thinks a $2,000 stimulus check gives “thousands of dollars to people who don’t need the help”. Oh? Is the pandemic over Mitchy? Is that why there’s so many influencers in Tulum right now?
While stimulus checks are still being debated let's remember one thing for certain when things go back to "normal" (manically laughs from lockdown depression). Before we ever see another billionaire on the cover of Forbes or TIME, let’s remember where they were and who our government was protecting when millions of Americans were literally dying to get 0.0002% of one of their $1 billion.
