This new plan will deplete the $286 million for Title X. Title X refers to organizations that receive funding for federal family planning programs and services that offer birth control, cancer screenings, treatments and more. According to the NYT, Title X serves around 4 million patients annually, women AND men.

In yet another drastic measure for conservative control of women’s bodies, it will require abortion operations to take place at a separate location and that medical professionals not refer them at all. The Trump administration has already permitted employers to deny insurance coverage for contraception-- a requirement of the Affordable Health Care Act. Funding for teenage prevention programs that provide contraception has also been hit in favor for sexual abstinence programs. Women support groups are arguing that this latest action is another attack on ensuring women are receiving complete and accurate information about their reproductive health.

PP is so much more than abortions guys. They are THE primary medical center to offer services for women such as: “STD testing and treatment, birth control, well-woman exams, cancer screening and prevention, abortion, hormone therapy, infertility services, and general health care.” They also are beneficial to men. Get up in there fellas and get your STI check ups and whatever other medical issues you may need. Just because abortion operations are available at PP, does not mean it is the ONLY service they offer. Shake Shake, home of the burger now has the option of chicken nuggets CHICK’N BITES. Does that mean we should shut down Shake Shack, because they serve more than burgers? HELL NAH. Just order what you want and be gone fool!

This measure is a direct attack on a woman’s choice to decide for herself. To be able to do so, we need to provide our citizens with complete information on consensual sex, reproductive measures in settings that make them feel safe. No two women are the same, nor are their pregnancy experiences. Rape, incest and unwanted pregnancies are all possible and very real situations. We demand a government to provide the same measures of safety and responsibility of supporting these women as much as we do for planned pregnancies.
